Evolution of Media & Technology
Over the course of the years, technology has found a way to keep advancing and changing the way of teaching and learning. One way that it has changed has been the introduction of AI or ChatGPT. AI has the potential to personalize learning, provide immediate feedback, and help both students and educators complete tasks more efficiently. What makes AI especially interesting is that it is not replacing teachers; instead, it is becoming a tool that can support instruction, increase student engagement, and reduce time spent on routine tasks such as lesson planning, grading, and creating learning materials.
Technology has evolved from simply providing access to information through computers and the internet to creating interactive, personalized, and collaborative learning experiences. Years ago, students primarily used technology to conduct research or type assignments. Today, cloud-based platforms, video conferencing, learning management systems, educational apps, and AI-powered tools allow students to learn anytime and anywhere. Technology has also made education more accessible for learners with different needs through features such as translation tools, speech-to-text, captions, and adaptive learning programs.
One significant example of how technology has evolved would be the option for online courses at universities. This option has changed the availability of college to those that couldn't join college for personal reasons. The virtual option has been able to connect students and teachers from all over the world. Most people are able to balance work and school more effectively with online resources being available from the comfort of your home or work. AI has further enhanced this by providing personalized tutoring, instant feedback, and resources tailored to individual learning needs. Together, these technologies have transformed how students access knowledge and develop new skills.
Overall, I believe technology has improved education. As a learner, I have experienced how digital tools make studying more efficient and engaging. For example, I have used online learning platforms to complete coursework, collaborate with classmates, and access instructional videos that helped clarify difficult concepts. More recently, I have used AI tools to organize my ideas, review complex topics, and generate practice questions while studying for teacher certification exams. These tools have helped me better understand the material while allowing me to focus more on critical thinking rather than simply searching for information. Although technology should never replace effective teaching, it has become an essential resource that enhances learning, increases accessibility, and better prepares students for a technology-driven world.
